This was a quick one. The original plan was to go to Tahoe this weekend for one last Sierra hurrah before the winter rolled in, but the forecast was making it look like winter was rolling in early. Decent chance of rain and snow, didn't sound like fun, so we made a last minute call to get a day-of camping permit in Point Reyes.
It came out as a great decision. The weather was beautiful and the hike was a decent distance but not too challenging. My partner and I were able to chat and catch up while making great time.
There was a lot of wind for the beach walk, but it was still super worth it. It was otherwise a great walk along the beach, and the waterfall was pretty cool. As we hiked back from the beach towards Glen campground, we came across ~8 elk on the trail.
The one day-of reservable campsite at Glen isn't great - it is smack in the middle of everything and pretty close to the pit toilets. It also doesn't have much space. We were able to fit our two tents there but might not have had space for much more. Otherwise, it is great that we could find a reservation on the day of our trip.
All-in-all, it was a great trip. Fantastic weather. Great stargazing. Beautiful sites.
